The Bloody Boot of Pere Cheney Cemetery - "the ultimate test for your dates."
Well, the bloody boot is just an interesting story in regards to Pere Cheney. My friends and I loved Pere Cheney and we used to go there about once a week. It was customary to take our new girlfriends or dates out to the old cemetery. In most cases, somebody would hide in the woods, sneak up on us and try to scare the girl. If the girl didn't freak out and get upset, then we knew she had a good sense of humor and that she would be fun to hang out with.
So anyways, I was driving and my date was in the car with me. We were supposed to be at the movies and her mom didn't know I was taking her out to Pere Cheney.
As we drove up to the railroad tracks, which is where we'd usually park and walk up to the cemetery, a guy (my friend) with a chainsaw came running at the car. My date didn’t even notice him. He's going wild like Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and she didn’t notice a thing! So, I drove off and tried again.
We circled around and came back across the railroad tracks. This time, he left a bloody boot and a trail of blood in the snow going into the cemetery. (The blood was fake, of course.)
She glanced at it and thought it was a dead animal and didn’t think twice about the bloody "carcass”. So we were sitting in the car and she was hoping to kiss a little and just hang out, while all the while I know my buddy is going to come out for another chainsaw attack. All of a sudden, my buddy came out of the forest, screaming, writhing, covered in blood and wearing a hockey mask.
She freaked out and yelled, "Your friend is attacking us!" She really thought we were under attack, but she wasn't fooled by who it was. Pretty soon, she realized what was going on. We all had a laugh and decided to go check out the cemetery and the nearby sand dunes.
As we drove up to the dunes, we noticed cop cars all around the cemetery. They even put up road blocks on a bunch of roads. The only way home was through the road blocks, so we drove up. The cops stopped us and said somebody reported a murder. They said that somebody was attacked with a chainsaw and there was blood all over. Of course, we knew it was just Kool-Aid in the snow, but we kept quiet.
The police shined a light into the back of our truck and noticed a chainsaw, bloody clothes and a bloody boot. They pointed their shotguns at us and started reading us our rights. We told the truth, and they laughed and told us to be on our way.
The next day, the story was on the cover of the Grayling Avalanche. We weren't identified and the "murder" information wasn't reported properly. Ever since then, the story has been linked to all sorts of ghost stories. It is a small part of the legend of Pere cheney.

- *All cemeteries should be entered with respect. Leave them like you found them. Don’t liter, if you smoke, pocket your butts and for the love of every god, don’t vandalize anything or so help me, 10,000 demons will strike you down. If the cemetery has hours posted, respect that as well or find out how to get permission to be in there after hours. Many times a simple phone call to the right person will grant access into a cemetery after hours. If you can’t get access, enjoy the cemetery during open hours. We are firm believers that spirits don’t just come out at night. I think it’s just ghost hunters who only come out at night.
