Let me first say I was born and raised in Flint. My parents sold our house (which had its own share of paranormal goings-on) and built a house on fifteen wooded acres in Millington when I was seventeen. So, I'm not a Millington native. Their property is located about 1/4 mile away from the start of the area that's known as Millington Hills.
We'll start with this one! It's one of the personal experiences that really got me into investigating the paranormal in the first place.
One full moon night, a few months after moving in, my brother had a few of his friends over. Around midnight or so, they decided to sneak out for a "nighttime bike ride" down to Murphy Lake. They were headed to a small "hidden" beach, that's about a 1/2 mile walk back through the woods on state land (part of Millington Hills). It's not really "hidden" as everyone knows about it and it's always quite full in the summer, but we call it that just because it's not easily accessible and you can't get to it other than by bike, horse or on foot. The entrance to the path is located on Swaffer Road, on the right just as you pass Washburn (if you're heading east). There's a small parking area, and then the trail.
Upon arriving at the parking area, it became apparent that my brother and his friends were going to meet girls. Surprise, surprise, eh? So, I turned my bike around and headed home.
I got back on to the road we live on and was peddling home. The road we live on is very wooded. On both the east and west side of the road, you've got a lot of swamp area. But just before that on the east side, the land is cleared out and homes are built there. The road in this part is bordered by a thin swatch of trees, only being about five or six feet deep from the road to the beginning of the mowed lawns. This strip of trees is only broken by the two driveway entrances that lead to the new Victorian-style house built there.
On this particular night, with the full moon out, it was easy to see everything. This thin strip of trees was on my right, as I headed north. I could see right through them. When I reached about the center of this area, I started hearing branches breaking beside me in the thin strip of trees. The sounds were actually keeping up with me as I peddled, and it sounded rather large.
I kept looking over to see if it was deer, as we have a lot of them in the area. I was thinking maybe I had startled some and that's what was causing the sound, because maybe it was running parallel to me.
Not seeing anything, the hair on the back of my neck began to stand up, so I started peddling faster, and the sounds kept right up next to me. Right past this area is the swampy area. Once I got even with the beginning of the swamp on the east side of the road, it was no longer beside me. I could hear what I can only describe as huge paws running in the dirt road right behind me. It wasn't quite like the sound of horse's hooves on the dirt. It was more padded than that. Like a large dog. I could hear it, but looking back over my shoulder, I couldn't see a thing. I could see the road, but there was nothing behind me.
It followed me until I was out of the swampy area and was almost home. I was never so happy to be back home in my life. I, to this day, have no idea what it was that I heard.
